2021-22 School Year

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 4th, 2021.  School begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:10 pm.  Lunch is from 11:55 to 12:35 each day.

We are looking forward to a great year.  It is important that we work together to ensure our students receive the very best education possible.  Limiting the number of times students have to be quarantined is crucial. Each time a quarantine occurs, the students' education is disrupted for several days.  We will provide work for the students to do while quarantined, but that is not as good as them being in school.

There is a policy change that parents and students need to be aware of.  Governor Ducey has signed a law that prohibits schools from requiring students and staff to wear masks.  The CDC still lists mask wearing as the number one prevention measure for schools to limit the spread of Covid-19.  At this time, Gila County is in a transmission status of  High according to State and CDC guidelines. Therefore, we encourage students and staff to wear masks when social distancing isn't possible, until there is a decrease in the transmission rate in the county.  Hopefully, that will only be a few weeks.  Whether you choose to have your student wear a mask or not, they will be treated with the same courtesy and respect as every other student.

Destiny School provides all needed school supplies including paper and pencils.  Any supplies lists from teachers are optional.  We do recommend that each student has a backpack and a refillable water bottle with their name on it.  Many students prefer to have their own earbuds instead of using those provided by the school.

Parents are allowed to walk their students to class on the first day of school.

Thanks again for your cooperation.

Attention:

A.R.S. § 15-802(B) requires school districts and charter schools to obtain and maintain verifiable documentation of Arizona residency upon enrollment in an Arizona public school. This document is designed to assist school districts and charter schools in meeting the legal requirements of the statute.

If you have received notification from Destiny School that you need to provide proof of residency, please bring this in as soon as possible.  Your student may be removed from class if we do not get this information.

We received updated Covid guidance from the Gila County Health Department this afternoon.

If a student or staff member has been within 6 feet of someone who has Covid-19 for 15 minutes or longer then they are considered exposed to the virus.

Students and Staff who are VACCINATED, are not required to quarantine unless they have continued exposure such as living with someone who has an active case of Covid-19.

Students and Staff members who are NOT VACCINATED must be quarantined for 10 days and be symptom free before they can return to school.

Receiving a Negative Covid test does not shorten the length of the quarantine.

Covid-19 guidelines change frequently. We will continue to keep you updated as we are notified by any new guidelines.-
We know that quarantines put a lot of stress on our students and their families and we appreciate your understanding and helpfulness. Type your paragraph here.
