On Campus Learning Delayed Until After Fall Break

IAlthough the COVID-19 numbers in Gila County were expected to change from yellow to green this week, they changed from yellow to red.  According to the Arizona Department of Health benchmarks and CDC indicators, red indicates a high risk of transmission in schools.  ADHS has determined that Gila County schools should be virtual learning only at this time (see the chart below).

We know that other schools in the state are ignoring the Arizona Department of Health and CDC guidelines and are opening at this time.  We have chosen to follow the guidelines.  Due to the updated COVID-19 numbers, we have not been able to get approval from the Gila County Health Department or our insurance company to open on September 28, 2020.  It is projected that it will take at least two weeks for the numbers to improve enough to be in line with CDC guidelines.  Therefore, we are planning on reopening the Monday following fall break if all goes well.

We will save the selections you have made as to whether your students will be on campus or on-line for when we do reopen.  You may change your selection up until one week before we reopen.  After that, no changes will be made until second semester.

We know that it has been a hardship for many families to have their children learning from home.  We want to remind you that you have the option of having your students doing their online learning at the school campus, but we will not be able to provide transportation until the school officially reopens.

We will continue to provide breakfast and lunch at the same places and times.
